Our 2023 rankings named Quinnipiac University the most popular school in the New England Region for nursing students working on their doctor’s degree. Quinnipiac is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Hamden, Connecticut. It awarded 88 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Quinnipiac. In 2019-2020 about 52% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Massachusetts Amherst. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. Sacred Heart University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for nursing students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Located in Fairfield, Connecticut, the medium-sized private not-for-profit school handed out 29 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Sacred Heart. During the 2019-2020 year, about 64% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
University of Vermont came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. UVM is a public institution located in Burlington, Vermont. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 25 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

MGH Institute of Health Professions landed the #11 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree nursing programs. MGH Institute of Health Professions is located in Boston, Massachusetts and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 22 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.

UCONN is located in Storrs, Connecticut and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 18 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.

With a ranking of #14, University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for nursing students working on their doctor’s degree.
