To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Nursing Degree Search has developed this Best Value Nursing Master's Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. This report analyzed 37 schools in the New England Region to see which ones offered the best value master's degree programs for nursing students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our 2023 rankings named Fitchburg State University the best value school in the New England Region for nursing students working on their master’s degree. Located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the medium-sized public school awarded 7 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Fitchburg State are $6,012 a year.
Fitchburg State does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Out of the 37 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s value ranking, Worcester State University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in Worcester, Massachusetts, the medium-sized public school handed out 28 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

The excellent master’s degree programs at Rivier University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best value nursing schools in the New England Region . Rivier is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Nashua, New Hampshire. It awarded 82 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Rivier are $12,195 a year.
Rivier does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 75% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
On top of its placing in our value ranking, Rivier also did well on our Best Nursing Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools reviewed in this analysis.
Out of the 37 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s value ranking, Endicott College landed the # 4 spot on the list. Endicott is a private not-for-profit institution located in Beverly, Massachusetts. The school has a small population, and it awarded 28 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Endicott graduate students pay an average of $12,746 in tuition and fees each year.

Salve Regina University landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value master’s degree nursing programs. Located in Newport, Rhode Island, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 7 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at Salve Regina are $11,730 per year.
One thing to take note of is that Salve Regina does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 91% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Fairfield University ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Nursing Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. Fairfield University is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in Fairfield, Connecticut that handed out 16 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Fairfield U are $19,498 a year.

Yale is a private not-for-profit institution located in New Haven, Connecticut. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 110 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
