This report analyzed 20 schools in Ohio to see which ones offered the best value master's degree programs for nursing students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
This ranking is not just a list of inexpensive schools. We also consider each school's quality, since we believe a low-quality school may not be a 'bargain' at any price. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
For nationwide and regional rankings, we use out-of-state tuition and fees in our calculations. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

The school came in at #3 on this year’s Best Value Nursing Master’s Degree Schools in Ohio list. OHIO Athens is located in Athens, Ohio and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 88 master’s degrees to qualified students.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at OHIO Athens are $17,712 a year.

Ohio State is a public institution located in Columbus, Ohio. The school has a large population, and it awarded 246 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

With a ranking of #9, Cleveland State University did quite well on this year’s best value schools for nursing students working on their master’s degree. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the fairly large public school awarded 40 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Cleveland State University graduate students pay an average of $18,051 in tuition and fees each year.
Online graduate courses are available at Cleveland State University, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In 2019-2020 about 88% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Kent State University at Kent did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for nursing students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #10 on the list. Located in Kent, Ohio, the large public school awarded 172 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.

Walsh University landed the #11 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value master’s degree nursing programs. Walsh University is a small private not-for-profit school located in North Canton, Ohio that handed out 48 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Capital University ranked #15 on this year’s Best Value Nursing Master’s Degree Schools in Ohio list. Capital is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Columbus, Ohio. It awarded 9 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Capital graduate students pay an average of $13,190 in tuition and fees each year.

Mount St. Joseph University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for nursing students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #16 on the list. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it awarded 54 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Case Western are $49,398 a year.
