Our analysis looked at 12 schools in Texas to see which doctor's degree programs offered the best value experiences for nursing students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.
When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our analysis found Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi to be the best value school for nursing students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in Texas. Texas A&M Corpus Christi is located in Corpus Christi, Texas and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 11 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Texas A&M Corpus Christi are $15,995 a year.
One thing to take note of is that Texas A&M Corpus Christi does offer online graduate classes in some areas. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 86% took at least some of their classes online.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend The University of Texas at El Paso. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Best Value Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools in Texas list. This large public school is located in El Paso, Texas, and it awarded 8 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
UTEP graduate students pay an average of $16,621 in tuition and fees each year.
UTEP does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 88% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
The excellent doctor’s degree programs at The University of Texas at Austin helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best value nursing schools in Texas. The University of Texas at Austin is a large public school located in Austin, Texas that handed out 31 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Texas Christian University came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools in Texas ranking. TCU is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Fort Worth, Texas. It awarded 83 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
TCU graduate students pay an average of $32,268 in tuition and fees each year.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at TCU. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 82% took at least some of their classes online.
