Our analysis looked at 93 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which associate degree programs offered the best educational experiences for nursing students. Factors related to overall quality of the school, post-graduation earnings, average student debt, and more accumulated were considered when coming up with this list.

Our 2023 rankings named Excelsior University the best school in the Middle Atlantic Region for nursing students working on their associate degree. Excelsior University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Albany, New York that handed out 1,240 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Associate Degree recipients from Excelsior University accumulate an average of $12,110 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
Excelsior University is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each undergraduate student at the school took at least one class online.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Delaware Technical Community College - Terry. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Nursing Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Delaware Tech is a public institution located in Dover, Delaware. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 1,741 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $4,945 in tuition and fees if they attend Delaware Tech full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $11,808. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $10,189 in student loans.

The excellent associate degree programs at Bronx Community College helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best nursing schools in the Middle Atlantic Region . Located in Bronx, New York, the medium-sized public school awarded 1,152 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $5,206 in tuition and fees if they attend BCC full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $8,086. On average, associate degree students take out $11,352 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Harrisburg Area Community College is a fairly large public school located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that handed out 1,788 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Pennsylvania pay an average of $8,565 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend HACC. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,148. La Roche University ranked #8 on this year’s Best Nursing Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
The average tuition and fees at La Roche is $32,284. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid.
One thing to take note of is that La Roche does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 64% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Suffolk County Community College came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Nursing Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Selden, New York is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 2,922 students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $6,270 in tuition and fees if they attend Suffolk County Community College full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $11,740. Associate Degree recipients from Suffolk County Community College accumulate an average of $9,363 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.

Full-time students from New York pay an average of $7,490 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend CSI. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,440. On average, associate degree students take out $12,527 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Pennsylvania College of Technology did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for nursing students to get an associate degree. It came in at #13 on the list. Penn College is a public institution located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The school has a small population, and it awarded 711 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Pennsylvania who attend Penn College full time pay an average of $17,940 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $25,680. On average, associate degree students take out $20,551 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Mercyhurst is a private not-for-profit institution located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The school has a small population, and it awarded 111 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
