Nursing is the most popular major in the United States with 322,592 degrees and certificates handed out in 2020-2021.

There are so many nursing programs in today's world that it can tough to figure out which one is the right one for you. With more and more schools offering online options, you could even register for a great program on the other side of the country. On top of that, there are a considerable number of trade schools that offer fast-track entry to many fields.

To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Nursing Degree Search has created its Most Popular Nursing Doctor's Degree Schools ranking. This report analyzed 424 schools in the United States to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for nursing students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Nursing program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for nursing majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our analysis found Chamberlain University - Illinois to be the most popular school for nursing students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the United States. Chamberlain - Illinois is a fairly large private for-profit school located in the large suburb of Addison.

Women make up 93% of the nursing majors at the school.

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Grand Canyon University is a great place for nursing students working on their doctor’s degree. Grand Canyon University is a fairly large private for-profit school located in the city of Phoenix.

Women make up 90% of the nursing majors at the school.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Rush University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular nursing schools in the United States. Rush University is a small private not-for-profit school located in the city of Chicago.

Of the 199 students majoring in nursing at Rush University, 12% are male and 88% are female.

Out of the 424 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Frontier Nursing University landed the # 5 spot on the list. Located in the rural area of Hyden, Frontier Nursing University is a private not-for-profit school with a small student population.
